Did some volunteer work at the polls tonight, and they cut me loose shortly before 9:00. And, hmmm...lo and behold, something wonderful happened shortly afterward:

I am so deliriously happy, I can't even think clearly. I could laugh and cry at the same time, I am so delighted. In all honesty, I have been crying tears of joy tonight.

The eight-year nightmare of the Dubya regime--easily the most destructive to this country in my lifetime, if not in the history of the republic--is very nearly over. And the American people mandated today that its horrifying policies and ideologies not be extended four more years.

Can we vote for change? Can we vote for hope?

Yes, we can.

Yes, we fucking well DID.

I just stopped crying myself, this is the total opposite of the horror I felt last time. Then I saw that drawing and giggled maniacally. ~;3

Holy shit..I have this weird feeling now...wait....what was that again....hope!!! Wow, I forgot what that felt like. For the first time in eight years, I'm proud to be an American again!

Hmm.... that picture has inspired my own... gonna draw a donkey mopping the floor with the elephant.
