Assuming the Lotus positon
Well, I have had my first cell phone for about two years now, and I went down to the Sprint store to see about renewing my contract with them; unlike a lot of cell phone users I have talked to, I have had no problems whatsoever with my phone or their services.

Anyway, even though I liked my old phone just fine (it was a Samsung that served me well), I really wanted one with a QWERTY keyboard on it. I never really got the hang of texting by having to press one button three or four times to summon up a specific letter...only to have to back up and erase the letters I mistyped.

So, lo and behold, I got myself a new cell phone today, as well. It's a red LG Lotus, as pictured in my icon for this post. It has a nice QWERTY board with domed buttons that even my clumsy old fingers can navigate. I love this phone already, and I haven't even made or received any calls on it!

I didn't have internet connectivity on my old phone--and I still don't on my new one. I just don't use my phone that much, and can't justify to myself spending $90 or more a month just to check email and news when I am on the go. What really sucked about that on my old phone was not being able to customize any images or ring tones; I had to just go with whatever was preprogrammed into the phone. No longer!

The LG Lotus has an itty-bitty memory card in it that I can use to transfer information from it to my computer, and vice versa. I have been having a lot of fun assigning images to the folks in my contact list and being able to use images I actually want as my custom screensaver. I know, those are simple pleasures that most folks have been able to enjoy for years with internet access on their phones, but I am having fun with it.

So now I am all prepped for AC with my pretty new phone! *polishes it*

Gotta go one step at a time. I had a cheapy phone at first ... then a better cellphone ... then a really good feature phone. And NOW I have smartphone. :)

Congrats on yer new purchase ... enjoy. <3

Thanks! I tend to take technology slowly, and with baby-steps, but I am getting there. o(:o)

Woo hoo! We're LG phone buddies! o(:o)

By the way, I was inspired when I chose the image for you on my contact list. A couple years back, you drew a pic that showed you being drunk-dialed by some friends in the wee hours of the morning. You are holding a cell phone and cringing. Perfect!

Yeah, I plan to make this one last a while. The old one was fine, except for the lack of a QWERTY keyboard. This new one is also expandable, and will suit my needs for quite some time to come, I think.

Got a nice pic of you next to your profile in there, too. o(:o)

I got the same model (but black) 3 months ago just for portable internet access. Never made or received any "phone" calls on it, but it's nice to have the option. :)

I figure if I ever do get internet access on mine, it will be the perfect phone to have to do so, since it has the keyboard I like.

An another LG phone buddy, I see. *snugsajedd*

I'm a longtime Sprint user too- the phones I've had are okay, but I never really made use of a data plan before I got a Centro, which is a Palm OS smartphone- a baby Treo, basically. It's nice to have data in the pocket. In fact, I was looking at the Pre just today. I had their Pre right on my face, in fact. Felt good.

Yeah, I was in the Sprint store, apparently, the day they released it to the public, and the place was packed.

So many people clamoring to have fresh, new Pre to stick in their ears!

B-But but! You're on Sprint! What about that new-fangled-Palm-Pre?

Feh. Way too much phone for me, since I don't need all the bells and whistles. Since I had the poor luck of going into the Sprint store on the day the Palm Pre was introduced, the place was a crowded circus...and I was asked three times, even though I made clear what I really wanted, if I wanted a Palm Pre. They are really whoring those things out!

It is a lot of phone.

Couldn't pass it up, being the size queen that I am.
