Cashew Lou's Yukon Annex

I've got Pop-Pop in the attic.

I hadn't even been at work two hours this morning when I found out my position no longer exists at the company. They were kind about it and everything, but fired is fired. Two weeks' severance pay, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

My initial reaction is relief, really; I am 25th in line of the people who have been let go in the past year and a half, so I am in very good company. And it is not as though this comes entirely as a surprise; the company has really been a struggling and stressful environment for over a year. When the revenue isn't there, you just have to slash where you can--and that means good employees, too.

Time to hit the old job search hard, and see what I can find. If anyone in Austin hears of anything halfway decent, please do let me know.

Gak. Sorry to hear it. :/ I'll keep an ear open for you!

Good luck to you on finding a new job. ^^ Though at least you're let go really late in the game.

Oh damn, I'm so sorry to hear about this. Good luck with the search.

Ugh. I'm glad for the relief, but it sucks to be out in this job market. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya'.

Given how this company sounds like it's been circling the bowl for awhile, you should be proud of how long it took them to downsize you. I'm expecting this place will be completely defunct within six months.

Good luck on the job hunt! You'll find something. I was always impressed by how you threw yourself at that first job hunt when you moved to Austin.

ouch..sorry to hear that bud.
Chin up and here's to hopin you land something awesome, soon.

I hope you find something better in no time. *hugs*

That fucking sucks. But it's something nobody is immune to these days, and I must say, I'm proud of how mature you seem to be taking it.

Sorry to hear you've joined our ranks. I hope you find something quick that you kinda sorta look forward to doing when you roll out of bed. :K)

Argh! That is teh suck. And that's awfully short notice, too! Two weeks? Wretched.

I do strongly recommend the job search engine www.indeed.com, which is a meta-search that searches other engines.

It's nice to hear that you're okay with it.

But now is not an easy time on the market. I'm looking for a job as well. But I hope the best for ya.
