Two Months, Two Interviews

It was two months ago today that I was let go from my old job. After applying to 257 jobs in that time period, it seems like I have had very little return for my efforts. I am starting to feel more of a sense of urgency now, because I know the period between Halloween and the new year is statistically a time when very little hiring takes place. Still, what can I do but keep plugging away?

Anyway, I had two interviews lined up yesterday and today. I didn't want to tell anyone about them until they were over; I am a little superstitious about that kind of thing. The first one, yesterday, was a telephone interview with a representative in Chicago regarding a position here in Austin. Normally, I tend to do more poorly during telephone interviews than I do face-to-face, but this one was an exception. I think it went very well, and believe I am still in the running for this one.

The face-to-face interview was this morning. I drove for a hour through rush-hour traffic in the pouring rain to Starbuck's--already a bad sign, since I don't care much for 'informal' interviews set in public places. The overall tone the interviewer seemed to set was that of disappointment that I had not held the same title and performed the exact duties of the new position, even though my skill sets fit the duties perfectly. Try as I might, I couldn't overcome his disillusionment; that's difficult to do when coffee orders are being yelled out every thirty seconds. I consider this interview a wash, which is a shame, since this job would have been in the exact same field I just left.

So I keep at it. Try to send some positive vibes my way, if you think of it.

My mate, Drake, is going through the same thing right now. I know the frustration.

Keep on keepin' on. Something will pan out. Best to you!

I sure hope so. I should avoid the media during my search; none of the news they report seems to be good.

Good luck, mate.

Was it the Anderson/Rockwood Starbucks? =3

Nope, it was the little one at MoPac/2222.

Good luck to you with finding a job! ^^ Keep working hard at finding one.

I keep at it every day, seven days a week.

Good good. Kepp doing that till you find a job. I know you'll find one. ^^

So, do you think Andy is gay?

I dunno...but I do think Oscar is the voice of the Taco Bell dog! o(:o)

Lots of good vibes your way, wolfy, and I'm keeping fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for you. Good luck!

*hug* Many thanks, foxy! I'm keeping at it; as a matter of fact, I have applied for a couple more jobs since I made this post.

That's actually better than my rate. Nine months and about five interviews over here.

Just keep yer chin up. You'll make it.

Oh, I know; any doubts I have been having have only been fleeting and momentary thus far.

I have applied for a ton of city, state and federal jobs, and I know they take two months or more to even start interviewing for those sometimes.
