I don't really care what the rest of the Oscar ceremony brings--even though I will watch it. The one Oscar-nominated film I went to this year won; it is also the one film I was really rooting for.

Congratulations to Nick Park and Steve Box for winning the best animated feature Oscar for Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. It doesn't come as a big surprise; the Academy has always loved Nick Park--this is his fourth Oscar. And the animated feature category wasn't an especially strong one this year, either. Still, I am thrilled.

Extra kudos go to Park pointing out--and thanking--Peter Sallis, the only voice Wallace has ever had. Unless something extraordinary happens in the remainder of the ceremonies tonight, Park's win will be my high point.

Okay, now you have the theme stuck in my head, too!

I have it on DVD! but I accidentally bought the full screen version. I love the movie for 3 reasons, 1: Funny visual gags, 2: Snappy one-liners, and 3: BUNNIES, BUNNIES, B-U-N-N-I-E-S!

Well this edition of the awards SUCKED UGLY C_CK..
That was the most boring show ever..

I'm dissapointed that Miyazaki Sama didn't get it.. But that UNDESERVING KongKrap flic got a few..
Don'tcha think?

However, Narnia stepped on Lucas' last nomination ever--unless he decided to become an actual film-maker again. :)

Makeup? I have never met a centaur that wore makeup!

Neither disappointed nor surprised by last night. I knew the instant Crash won Best Pic that there would be rumblings that Brokeback lost for being "too gay". I haven't seen either movie. For all I know, Crash is a better film. Besides, Hollywood was for decades the only place it was more or less safe to be gay (off screen, anyway), so I know it's not that. And look at the character portrayed by the Best Actor winner.

Actually, Philip Seymour Hoffman's win is the brainmelter for me, because all I can hear in my head is Truman Capote lisping "the suck zone". :)
