Week in review, some silliness
Monday: I was called to jury selection. Thank goodness, I wasn't selected for jury duty, but it took five-and-a-half hours and a long voir dire session to figure that out. One good point: the counselor for the prosecution looked like Dave Foley and had a nice British accent; the latter isn't something you find in Texas all that often. I am an Anglophile, and I am a sucker for a nice British accent. I could suck on a nice British accent for hours.

Tuesday/Wednesday: Work, sleep, repeat. Too much of the first, too little of the second.

Thursday: A bout of insomnia and a little general free-floating depression (which has since passed) had me in a little bit of a funk. So, of course, a fur I know basically only in passing told me out of the blue that he needed some support and a shoulder to cry on. I told him as gently as I could that it wasn't the best time in the world for me, either, and that a direct and aggressive demand of attention/support from someone I really didn't know made me uncomfortable. I receive a sarcastic page mail from him after the fact that he had only been diagnosed with cancer, and that he was ever so sorry to bother me. Fucking forgive me for not having my psychic powers switched on that day. I am sorry for your troubles, but Jeebus.

Friday: Had an event at work involving 150+ people, where I was responsible for all planning--food, room reservation and much of the content. As I got in to work at 6 that morning, I found the main meeting area was locked, even though I had requested to have it unlocked at 5:30. Once that was ironed out, the day went all right--but I was absolutely wiped out by the end of the day. Does anyone besides me think the past tense of wipe should be wope?

Today: First day of a three-day weekend--which may turn into four. Went to the grocery store at 7 this morning to get groceries and stuff, since they are calling for up to three days of freezing rain and ice starting tomorrow. In the last 3 hours here in Austin, we have gotten nearly 5 inches of rain. They are saying this is the worst winter storm setup central Texas has seen in over 60 years, so I made sure to stock up. Lotsa DVDs set aside for me this weekend! I'd invite local folks over for a movie night, but folks might get stuck here. o(:oP I also plan to get my web page updated.

So that's been my week. Hope folks are well out there.
