Hot Fuzz
Yesterday, I found myself bored outta my skull. Luckily, I was in the same boat as kaanah and kiyopi, so we got together to hang out and pretty much play things by ear.

Both of them suggested we go see Hot Fuzz, but I kind of balked at going, since I had not heard anything about it, nor about Shaun of the Dead, an earlier film by the same director, Edgar Wright. We went anyway, though; it wasn't that I had low expectations, I had no expectations at all, really.

I now humbly eat crow. I don't think I have laughed so hard at a movie in several years; I had tears streaming down my face from laughter at several points. Hot Fuzz is one of those movies I could turn around and watch again immediately. This title definitely goes onto my DVD to-get list.

I was so impressed, the two of them took me to their place and showed me Shaun of the Dead as well. The best comparison I can make here is to a combination of Mel Brooks at his best and John Landis when he directed An American Werewolf in London. Translation: freaking awesome!

Cinematic comedy is almost impossible to direct well. Edgar Wright has that touch, and I look forward to whatever he plans to do next.

Sean of the dead was a lot of fun. Those guys have a good sense of humor...here's looking forwards to Fuzz! :)
