Victory is Mine! Sorta.
Somehow, I got the scanning software that came with my scanner to work with Windows Vista. Please don't ask me how I did it, because in all honesty I don't know. After several attempts to install, uninstall and reinstall the scanner and scanner software drivers, it just, well...worked somehow.

I still can't get it to import from programs like PhotoShop, but at least I can get it to scan. So that's one small victory.

As for putting XP back on my computer, I would have to get a Windows 98SE boot disk in order to do that--unless I did a new install, which would wipe my hard drives. That is not an option. So I will stay with Vista for now.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and help!

I could give you a bootable Windows ME disk if that would be of use?

The chief complaint with Vista (or just about any other major OS alteration) seems to be with hardware support. I myself have had to change SCSI cards and cables with each new build of Windows, just to keep my old scanner in the game. :)

Yay! Death to evil Vista drivers!
